The 20th annual PG&E Water Conservation Showcase is featuring a ton of education talks and events, and our hands-on sprinkler-to-drip workshop is one of them. My friend and colleague Kim Titus* and I will be converting two existing sprinkler zones to drip in this all-day workshop with your help.

Come join us as we convert two sprinkler zones at The Gardens at Heather Farm in Walnut Creek on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 9 am until 4 pm. First, we'll give a short talk on the mechanics of drip design. Then we'll dig in and convert the sprinklers to a system of drip grids that are WAY more efficient than the existing irrigation.

The photo shows the two areas we'll be converting.

Workshop description

In this workshop, we’ll convert sprinkler zones to the most efficient irrigation available - drip. Sprinkler-to-drip conversions are commonly performed by landscape professionals in this era of droughts. We most commonly see this in lawn-conversion projects where the lawn is removed and replaced with low-water plants. Once the plants go in, the best way to irrigate them is with drip. We'll install uniform grids of emitterline tubing for impeccable water coverage. There's nothing that beats learning by doing. Come work with us, and you'll walk away with skills and confidence that you can apply to your future drip projects.

*Kim Titus is the branch manager of The Urban Farmer Store in Richmond, CA.
